Construction Equipment – Accounting, Claims & Contract Considerations
This presentation will address construction equipment from three perspectives – accounting, claims and legal. The panel of speakers includes claims analysts, a CPA and an attorney – all of whom have at least 17 years of experience in the construction accounting, claims or legal professions. The panelists will address construction equipment accounting practices, claim preparation and evaluation tips, and legal insights including contract drafting recommendations and dispute considerations.

Scott Hollingsworth is a Vice President in the Chicago office of The Kenrich Group LLC. For more than 17 years, he has specialized in the investigation and resolution of business disputes, primarily related to the construction industry. He has consulted on behalf of construction contractors, project owners, insurance companies, and government contractors. Mr. Hollingsworth’s work includes claim assembly, evaluation and rebuttal, schedule delay analysis, and financial analysis among other forensic analyses. He has testified as an expert in court proceedings and has presented schedule delay and damage analysis during settlement negotiations.

Kevin Krueger is a Senior Manager in the Construction & Real Estate practice at Wipfli. He has over 30 years of experience which includes both public accounting and industry experience. For the last two decades he has been providing consulting and litigation support services to the construction industry. Mr. Krueger prepares and evaluates construction dispute claims. His work includes job cost audits and operational reviews for process improvement. He has appeared as an expert witness in front of judges and juries as well as providing arbitration testimony.

Ryan Hiss is a partner in the construction law firm of Laurie & Brennan, LLP. He has been practicing law for over 20 years. Mr. Hiss focuses his practice on the legal issues encountered by contractors, equipment suppliers, design professionals and owners in the construction industry. He assists his construction industry clients by drafting and negotiating contracts, preparing claims for additional compensation and time extensions, consulting on dispute avoidance during projects, representing clients in mediation, arbitration or litigation, asserting or defending against mechanics lien and bond claims, and general business practice consultation.
